Bagworm control
Every year people bring in samples of their plants with strange looking growths hanging from them. It resembles a cone made from bits of the plant it is hanging on. This little critter is a bagworm and if not treated it can be quite destructive. Bagworms overwinter as eggs and hatch in mid to late May. The young worms begin feeding and constructing their bags immediately thereby causing damage to plants.
If your plant is small enough simply pick them off and destroy them. But be sure and get them all, one female bagworm can produce 1000 eggs. They can also be sprayed from the end of June to early July before they mature. We recommend using Ferti-lome Borer Bagworm and tent caterpillar spray. Thorough spray coverage is critical for success.
