This miniature groundcover, Ajuga ‘Chocolate Chip,’ has striking bronze foliage and spring bloom spikes. The oval leaves emerge as a rich purple-bronze before maturing to dark green later in the season. In late spring, lavender-blue flower spikes appear, creating an attractive display, especially when planted in masses.

Ajuga has a spreading habit and forms a dense carpet over time. It grows about 2 inches tall and will spread to less than a foot within two years. While adaptable, it can develop root rot in poorly drained, wet conditions. Consistent moisture helps the plant maintain its best appearance.
