This compact evergreen is valued for its feathery, dense foliage and slender, pyramidal form. Unlike larger arborvitae varieties, it maintains a moderate size, reaching 15 to 20 feet in height while staying just 5 feet wide at the base. Its lush, finely textured foliage creates a full yet graceful appearance.

Thriving in full to partial sun, this arborvitae benefits from some protection against north winds in our region. It prefers moist, fertile soil but is adaptable and moderately drought-tolerant. Light pruning in late spring can enhance its compact shape. Resistant to deer and most diseases, it may occasionally be affected by spider mites, bagworms, or mealybugs, and winterburn can occur in exposed locations.
