This semi-evergreen shrub is grown for its showy flowers in spring and the ability to rebloom in late summer through frost. Its large clusters of flowers are pink and double. It grows to around 3 to 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
Azaleas need afternoon shade or dappled shade throughout the day in our area and moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Adding compost and around 3 inches of mulch at the time of planting is highly recommended. Also, avoid winter wind if possible. A product to lower pH may have to be routinely applied.
This plant works best as a foundation plant or in a woodland garden.
