This semi-evergreen shrub is grown for its showy flowers in spring and the ability to rebloom in late summer through frost. Its large clusters of flowers are a stunning shade of dark pink. It grows to around 4 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
Azaleas need afternoon shade or dappled shade throughout the day in our area and moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Adding compost and around 3 inches of mulch at the time of planting is highly recommended. Also, avoid winter wind if possible. A product to lower pH may have to be routinely applied.
This plant works best as a foundation plant or in a woodland garden.
