This upright evergreen is grown for its exceptionally narrow shape and versatility. This boxwood naturally assumes a columnar form with dark green leaves that keep their color all year. Its growth is gradual, reaching a height of 9 feet and a width of 1 to 2 feet. While it can be pruned to achieve a more formal appearance, such pruning is unnecessary.
It prefers full sun to partial shade and will do best in rich soil that is well mulched to maintain moisture at the roots. It cannot tolerate saturated soils. It does not have any serious diseases or pests.
The Green Tower Boxwood works well as a narrow, evergreen hedge, a single upright specimen, or a pair to flank doors and windows.
