burning bush fireball
5-7' Tall 5-7' Wide
Full to partial sun 60px

This vibrant shrub is celebrated for its stunning fall color and ease of care. Smaller and more compact than other burning bushes, it grows to about 5 to 7 feet tall and wide. Its leaves are a uniform green in spring and summer, transforming into one of the most vivid red displays of any plant come fall. Fireball Burning Bush is a sterile variety, meaning it won’t spread by seed.

While it can tolerate part shade, this shrub achieves its most brilliant fall color when planted in full sun. It is adaptable to various soil types and is somewhat drought-tolerant, though it should be watered during extended dry periods. Though pruning can be done at any time, it responds best when trimmed in the fall.

Generally pest- and disease-free, spider mites may occasionally pose a problem. The Fireball Burning Bush works wonderfully in foundation plantings, as a border or small hedge, or as an accent plant that adds a spectacular pop of color in the fall.
