One of the Romance series bush cherries, Julie cherries, are dark red, medium-sized cherries. They are a tart cherry cross that has been bred to be bush-sized, between 5 to 8 feet tall and wide. The shrubs produce very well; their cherries taste sweeter than their North Star parent. Juliet cherries are one of the sweetest of the Romance cherries and can be eaten fresh or used for baking. They ripen earlier than other Romance cherries, as early as June.
The bush cherries can be grown in an orchard or as part of the landscape since they are attractive bushes that bloom white in the spring and then have dark, glossy green leaves. The Juliet Cherry Bush is fairly disease-resistant but is not maintenance-free and has similar requirements to other sour cherries.
