Dynamite Crape Myrtle is a large shrub that produces a stunning flower display in late summer. It has true, vibrant red blossoms that are ruffled. It does not grow as a tree in Kansas, although it will grow larger in sheltered sites. It has dark green foliage and interesting exfoliating bark. It can be pruned in late winter to maintain a tidy appearance. It is excellent as a buffer hedge, as a foundation plant, or as an accent plant.
This shrub prefers full sun to bloom best and is heat and drought-tolerant but intolerant of wet soils.
