Muskogee Crape Myrtle
Lagerstroemia indica ‘muskogee‘
This shrub has a stunning flower display in late summer. Its blossoms are ruffly and light, lavender pink. It does not grow as a tree in Kansas, although it will grow larger in sheltered sites. It has dark green foliage and interesting exfoliating bark. It can be pruned in late winter to maintain a tidy appearance. It is excellent as a buffer hedge, as a foundation plant, or as an accent plant. This shrub prefers full sun to bloom best and is heat and drought tolerant but intolerant of wet soils.
