Black Flowering Fountain Grass has unusual fluffy purplish to almost black flowers in late summer. The foliage consists of arching blades that are full and green, turning a straw color in the winter. The grass looks presentable throughout the winter. This grass stays short and compact and works well for massing, in a mixed border, or as a foundation planting.
This grass is low maintenance but needs to be cut back when dormant. It will tolerate drought and does best in full sun to part shade, but will bloom best in full sun. It does not have any serious pest or disease issues.
