Karl Foerster grass is extremely tall and narrow with feathery stalks that rise above the green foliage in mid-Summer and persist into winter. The blooms emerge reddish, then fade to a golden tan for the rest of the season. It forms a neat clump and works well in foundation plantings, mass plantings, and as an upright accent plant. This grass is low maintenance but needs to be cut back when it is dormant.
This grass performs best in full sun and tends to flop out in more shade. It will tolerate a wide variety of soils, including wet soils. It doesn’t have any serious pest or disease issues.
