This holly is grown for its evergreen foliage and bright red winter berries. This variety of holly has glossy, dark green leaves that may darken in the winter. Its bright red berries are only produced if a ‘Blue Boy’ pollinator is nearby. In good conditions, it can grow to around 6 to 8 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide.
This shrub prefers partial sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Hollies also prefer acidic soils and may need products to lower the pH. This variety works well as a foundation plant, accent plant, or evergreen screen or hedge.
