Nikko Blue Hydrangea is grown for its huge blooms that appear throughout the summer. The blooms are mop-headed and consist of clusters of flowers that are light blue or pink depending on pH. The leaves are dark green, contrasting well. This plant works well as a foundation or accent plant, and the flowers work well as cut flowers.
It prefers part sun and must have evenly moist soil. For blue flowers, aluminum sulfate must be added to the soil in our area.
