Silver Dragon Liriope is grown for its attractive foliage and pale lavender blooms that appear in late summer. It has grassy leaves with striking white and green stripes. The pale lavender flower spikes form black berries, which often persist into winter.

Silver Dragon Liriope spreads to form large clumps and reaches about 9 to 15 inches in height. It is tolerant of most light conditions, though its leaves may bleach in full sun, and flowers and leaves can be sparse in full shade. Once established, it is drought-tolerant but performs best in moist soils.

The plant has no serious pest problems and looks best if mowed or trimmed in the fall to remove spent foliage. Silver Dragon Liriope works well as a groundcover under trees where lawns are hard to maintain. It also serves as an effective edging for perennial beds or as a groundcover in smaller areas.
