Blue Heaven Little Bluestem grass is grown for its verticality and the changing color of its foliage. Its narrow blades emerge an excellent shade of blue in the spring before acquiring pink or burgundy highlights in summer, then finally changing to copper in the fall. It is narrow and upright and has small tan seed heads in the fall. It works well for accents, mixed borders, massings, and low-maintenance areas.
This plant is extremely heat and drought-tolerant and will tolerate a wide variety of soils. It’s extremely low maintenance, needing to be cut to the ground once annually while dormant. It does not have any serious pest or disease problems.
