The Mikawa Yatsubusa Japanese maple is grown for its dense, overlapping leaves. The leaves have seven points and are rich green. They turn bright red to maroon in the fall. The tree can grow 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide but is slow-growing. It has a round form that is somewhat irregular.

This tree is suitable as an accent tree in sheltered areas and as an understory tree. It prefers part sun, moist, well-drained soils, and shelter from too much wind.
