This medium-large shrub is grown for its foliage color and flowers. It grows to 4 to 6 feet tall and wide with a mounding form. This shrub’s leaves are a dark wine red color but may fade slightly in the heat of summer. It is covered in white to pink flower clusters in the spring. Its pealing reddish bark also adds winter interest.
This plant grows in full sun to part shade but will do best with some afternoon shade in our area. It will tolerate a wide variety of soil conditions but does best when consistently watered. This shrub works as a foundation plant, an accent, or as a low screen.
