Chinkapin Oak
Quercus muehlenbergii
This large shade tree is grown for its low maintenance, longevity, and size. Its dark leaves are long and toothed like the sawtooth oak. This oak generally doesn’t get acorns for the first 30 years of its life. It can reach 40 to 50 feet tall and wider with age. It is drought tolerant and prefers full sun.
