This large shrub or small tree is grown for its showy blooms that appear summer through fall. This plant grows to around 6 to 8 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide. Its blossoms are large, double with lots of petals, and bright pink to fuschia in color. The plant has an upright vase shape and can be pruned into a small tree.
It prefers full to partial sun but will bloom best in full sun. It will tolerate a wide variety of soils and some drought but prefers even moisture.
This plant works very well as a specimen or accent. It can also form a colorful hedge and be planted around foundations.
