This unique shrub has excellent foliage color from spring through fall in a compact size that will fit most gardens. Its dark purple foliage turns black-green in summer before turning red and orange in the fall. It also has an interesting display of airy blooms in the early summer, giving the shrub its characteristic name. This shrub only grows to 4 to 6 feet tall and wide and can be lightly pruned in the spring to maintain its shape.
This plant is disease and insect-resistant and prefers average soils. It will have its best foliage color and flowering display in full sun. Use it as a specimen or hedge.
