The foliage of the Double Play Big Bang Spirea emerges in various shades of orange and red in the spring, gradually turning yellow for the rest of the season. Pink flowers appear in spring and are larger than many spireas. It also has good orange fall color. It grows 2 to 3 feet tall and 2 to 3 feet wide with a compact form.

This shrub prefers full sun but will grow in some shade. It will adapt to a wide range of soils but will perform best with even moisture. It works very well in groups and as foundation plants. It can also form a low hedge.
