Double Play Doozie Spirea wows with a continuous display of color throughout the growing season. Its leaves emerge bright red in the spring before darkening to green. The bright purple-red clusters of blossoms begin opening in late spring for their most floriferous display but never stop opening until frost.

This well-behaved shrub will only grow to 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. It is also a seedless variety and won’t spread. Spireas are disease and pest-free and very low maintenance. They only need an occasional thinning of old stems in early spring to stay fresh. Spireas bloom best in full sun but will tolerate some shade. They have average water needs and will handle a variety of soils. The Double Play Doozie Spirea works well as an accent plant but will work well massed. It works very well as a foundation plant.
