Double Play Red Spirea produces clusters of dainty flowers that emerge bright reddish pink in the spring. Its new foliage is also nearly red. The leaves then fade to a dark green throughout the rest of the year. It grows 2 to 3 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide with a compact form.
This shrub prefers full sun but will grow in some shade. It will adapt to a wide range of soils but performs best with even moisture. It works very well in groups and as foundation plants. It can also form a low hedge.
