This well-behaved shrub is grown for its bright yellow flowers that cover the shrub in summer. This St. John’s Wort has dark green leaves and lovely bright yellow flowers that open from July through August. It has a compact, mounded form and grows 2 to 3 feet tall and 2 to 4 feet wide. It’s brown seed heads that persist through the fall and into the winter.
This shrub prefers moist soils but can tolerate poor soils and some drought once established. It prefers full sun but will tolerate some shade. It does not have any serious pests or diseases. Sunny Boulevard St. John’s Wort works well as a foundation plant, along pond margins, in rock gardens, and natural areas.
