Tiger eye sumac’s new growth is vivid, chartreuse green in the spring, and keeps its lighter color well throughout the summer. The fall color is vivid orange to yellow, sometimes with scarlet mixed in. The stems are velvety and contrast with the foliage, and the shrub will remain fairly compact, reaching 3 to 6 feet tall. This shrub is an exceptional accent plant.
It prefers full sun for the best foliage color but can take some shade. This shrub will adapt to a wide variety of soils except for very wet soils. It does not have any serious pest or disease problems.
