This native shrub is grown for its ample blooms in mid-summer. It grows to about 2 to 3 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide with a compact, round habit. In July and August, it’s covered in spikes of pure white blooms that are very fragrant and attract pollinators. The dark green leaves of this plant generally have good yellow fall color.
This shrub tolerates full shade to full sun but does best in part shade. It prefers evenly moist to wet soils but won’t tolerate dry soils. It works very well near patios, in shade gardens, and even along the margins of water gardens and ponds.
