Also known as the Snowball Bush, this large shrub is covered with 3-inch balls of lime-green to white flowers in the spring. Its bright green leaves will sometimes color red in the fall. It grows to 10 to 12 feet tall and 10 feet wide but can be controlled by pruning. Pruning should be done immediately after flowering to avoid cutting off next year’s buds.
It will tolerate full sun to part shade. This shrub will tolerate a wide range of soils except for dry soils. It works well as a large specimen and as a screen.
