Dark Horse Weigela has clusters of trumpet-shaped magenta flowers in the spring that contrast well with the bronze leaves. The leaves have bright green veins, and the rest of the leaf keeps their dark purplish color through the summer.
This shrub has a dense spreading habit that works well near the front of borders and around foundations. It needs at least 6 hours of sunlight to bloom best but prefers afternoon shade in our area. It does not have any serious pest or disease problems.
