Musashino Zelkova

Zelkova serrata ‘Musashino’

This zelkova is a very narrow, vase shaped tree with branches growing almost vertically.  It makes an excellent street tree since it only gets 15 feet wide but grows to 45 feet tall.  It withstands urban conditions very well.  It has an elm-like green leaf which can turn yellow to rusty red in the fall.  It does not have any serious insect or disease problems.
