This evergreen shrub is grown for its scale-like needles that have excellent golden-colored new growth.  It keeps its gold-tone well in the winter and can be used as a foundation plant.

It prefers full sun, is drought tolerant, and can grow in very poor soils except for wet soils.  Branches can be trimmed back or sheared to keep them from spreading too far.
