This evergreen shrub is cultivated for its scale-like needles, which feature excellent golden-colored new growth.  It keeps its gold tone well in the winter and can be used as a foundation plant.

It prefers full sun, is drought-tolerant, and can grow in very poor soils but not in wet soils.  Branches can be trimmed back or sheared to keep them from spreading too far.
